Fees

Fees and Medicare Rebates

We understand that accessing mental health care can be costly. As a small practice, while we are unable to offer routine bulk billing,  we do our best to keep our fees within reach for many people.

If you receive a Centrelink benefit, you’re eligible for a reduced fee for your first appointment. This gives you the opportunity to see if the practice will be the right fit for you, at a lower cost.  â€‹â€‹â€‹

If you hold a Medicare card, around 50% of your fee will be reimbursed by Medicare. If you’re not eligible for Medicare, you’ll be responsible for the full fee as outlined below.

To confirm your first booking, debit or credit card details are required. Please ensure your banking details are registered with Medicare so that your rebate can be paid directly to your account via electronic funds transfer (EFT). We do not accept cash.

After your appointment, the total fee will be charged automatically to your registered card. Medicare rebates are usually processed within minutes but may take up to three business days.

Centrelink Recipients

If you receive a Disability Support Pension, Parenting Payment, Carer Payment, JobSeeker, or Youth Allowance, you’re eligible for a reduced first appointment fee with an out-of-pocket cost of $75 (total fee = $337.10 before Medicare rebate). Regular fees apply for future appointments if you choose to continue with the practice, unless otherwise specified.

Public Community Mental Health Clients

If you’re being discharged from a public community mental health service after receiving case management for a chronic mental illness, and are on long-term Centrelink benefits (e.g. DSP), you may be eligible for reduced fees for all appointments, with an out-of-pocket cost of $15 per 15 minutes (equivalent to $60/hr) after Medicare rebate. Please ask your case manager to contact the practice to provide a handover to our psychiatrist, who can then decide if this practice is the right fit for you. A discharge summary and your most recent psychiatric assessments from your public psychiatrist will be needed.

Close the Gap

We strongly support the Close the Gap initiative and are committed to improving access to care for people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent. Where patients are referred by a local Aboriginal Medical Service (AMS), we offer reduced rates for all appointments of no more than $15 per 15 minutes out-of-pocket (equivalent to $60/hr) after Medicare rebate. Please speak with your AMS about referral options if this applies to you.

Carer Appointments

Carers are bulk-billed for attending separate appointments to provide information that supports the assessment and care of their loved one. These sessions are intended to benefit the patient. Both patient consent and a GP referral (for the carer) are required. Carers seeking support for their own mental health are encouraged to visit the Carer Gateway or arrange treatment with a separate healthcare provider.

Group Therapy

Peer support groups offer a space for people with a common experience of mental illness to share stories, questions, frustrations and humour under the quiet supervision of a psychiatrist to help maintain a therapeutic environment. Small group therapy sessions are under development.

Administrative Services

Reports, letters and other administrative services completed outside of appointment times will incur a fee, varying with the complexity and time required to complete the service. Medicare rebates do not apply.
